Terms and Conditions for Tutoring Services
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before purchasing or making use of any services provided by The Tutor Router (PTY) LTD.
By purchasing lessons, workshops, educational resources, or making use of our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
1. DEFINITIONS
1.1 “Company”, “We”, “Us”, or “The Tutor Router” refers to The Tutor Router (PTY) LTD.
1.2 “Client” refers to the parent, guardian, or adult learner purchasing services from The Tutor Router.
1.3 “Learner” refers to the individual receiving tutoring or educational services.
1.4 “Tutor” refers to a tutor assigned by The Tutor Router.
1.5 “Lessons” refers to tutoring sessions provided either online or face-to-face.
1.6 “Lesson Package” refers to a bundle of lessons purchased by the Client.
1.7 “Online Lessons” refers to lessons conducted remotely through platforms such as Google Meet, Zoom, or similar platforms.
1.8 “Face-to-Face Lessons” refers to lessons conducted in person.
1.9 “Educational Resources” refers to any study packs, worksheets, videos, presentations, recordings, notes, digital downloads, or educational materials provided by The Tutor Router.
2. SERVICES PROVIDED
The Tutor Router may provide the following services:
3. LESSONS AND LESSON PACKAGES
3.1 Lesson durations may vary depending on the service selected.
3.2 Online lessons are generally a minimum of 40 minutes in duration.
3.3 Face-to-face lessons are generally a minimum of 60 minutes in duration.
3.4 Lesson Packages are valid for 90 calendar days from the date of payment unless otherwise agreed in writing.
3.5 Prices are subject to change at the discretion of The Tutor Router. Clients will be informed of any pricing changes before purchasing future services.
3.6 The Tutor Router reserves the right to divide large lesson packages across multiple months where necessary.
4. BOOKINGS AND SCHEDULING
4.1 Lessons will only be scheduled once payment or the required deposit has been received.
4.2 Clients are responsible for communicating availability and scheduling lessons with the assigned Tutor.
4.3 The Tutor Router may conduct periodic check-ins with both Tutors and Clients to ensure quality of service.
5. PAYMENTS
5.1 Payment must be made in advance before lessons commence unless otherwise agreed in writing.
5.2 Installment payment arrangements may be offered at the discretion of The Tutor Router.
5.3 Failure to make payments according to the agreed arrangement may result in suspension or cancellation of services.
5.4 The Tutor Router reserves the right to withhold educational services, resources, or future bookings until outstanding balances are settled.
6. CANCELLATIONS AND RESCHEDULING
6.1 Clients must provide at least 24 hours notice when cancelling or rescheduling a lesson.
6.2 Lessons cancelled within less than 24 hours before the scheduled start time may be forfeited.
6.3 Emergency cancellations may be considered at the discretion of The Tutor Router if a valid reason is provided.
6.4 If a Tutor cancels a lesson, the lesson will still be owed to the Client.
6.5 Repeated cancellations, failure to attend lessons, or failure to communicate may result in termination of services.
7. REFUNDS
7.1 Refund requests must be submitted in writing.
7.2 Refunds, where applicable, will generally be processed within 14 business days.
7.3 If a Lesson Package is cancelled before completion, completed lessons may be charged at the individual lesson rate and the remaining balance refunded where applicable.
7.4 Refunds are not guaranteed for missed lessons, expired lesson packages, or services already rendered.
8. ONLINE LESSONS AND TECHNICAL ISSUES**
8.1 Clients are responsible for ensuring they have:

9. CLIENT CONDUCT
9.1 Clients and Learners are expected to communicate respectfully with Tutors and staff members.
9.2 Abusive, discriminatory, threatening, inappropriate, or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.
9.3 The Tutor Router reserves the right to terminate services where inappropriate conduct occurs.
9.4 Clients may not directly recruit, privately contract, or solicit Tutors assigned through The Tutor Router during the active tutoring relationship.
10. FACE-TO-FACE LESSONS
10.1 Clients must ensure that face-to-face lessons take place in a safe and appropriate environment.
10.2 A suitable workspace must be provided for the Tutor and Learner.
10.3 Parents or guardians remain responsible for minors during face-to-face lessons.
11. TUTOR ALLOCATION AND REPLACEMENT
11.1 The Tutor Router will allocate Tutors based on the Client’s academic needs and availability.
11.2 Clients may request a Tutor replacement if reasonably dissatisfied with the assigned Tutor.
11.3 The Tutor Router reserves the right to replace Tutors where operationally necessary.
11.4 If no suitable replacement Tutor can be found, The Tutor Router may terminate the tutoring arrangement and issue a refund for unused lessons where applicable.
12. NO GUARANTEE OF ACADEMIC RESULTS
12.1 The Tutor Router provides academic support services but does not guarantee:
12.2 Academic performance depends on various factors including learner participation, effort, attendance, study habits, and external circumstances.
13. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
13.1 All Educational Resources provided by The Tutor Router remain the intellectual property of The Tutor Router unless otherwise stated.
13.2 Educational Resources may not be:

13.3 Educational Resources are intended solely for the personal educational use of the registered Client or Learner.
14. WORKSHOPS, RECORDINGS, MEDIA, AND TESTIMONIALS
14.1 The Tutor Router may host online or in-person workshops, webinars, revision sessions, bootcamps, or educational events.
14.2 Certain workshops or online sessions may be recorded for educational, training, quality assurance, or commercial purposes.
14.3 Workshop recordings may be:
14.4 Participants who do not wish to appear visually in workshop recordings may choose to keep their cameras turned off.
14.5 Participants are responsible for ensuring that usernames, profile pictures, or displayed information do not contain inappropriate or offensive content.
14.6 Testimonials, feedback, or reviews submitted to The Tutor Router may be used for marketing purposes unless otherwise requested in writing.
14.7 No sensitive learner information will be shared publicly without consent.
15. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
15.1 The Tutor Router will take reasonable care in providing its services.
15.2 The Tutor Router shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of its services.
15.3 The Tutor Router shall not be held responsible for losses arising from:
16. FORCE MAJEURE
16.1 The Tutor Router shall not be held liable for delays or failure to provide services resulting from events beyond reasonable control.
17. PRIVACY AND POPIA
17.1 The Tutor Router collects and stores personal information necessary for the provision of tutoring and educational services. This may include names, contact details, learner information, academic information, and communication records.
17.2 Personal information is handled responsibly and in accordance with applicable South African privacy legislation, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
17.3 The Tutor Router will take reasonable steps to protect personal information and will not intentionally share confidential information with unauthorised third parties unless required by law or where necessary for the provision of services.
17.4 By making use of The Tutor Router’s services, the Client consents to the collection and processing of personal information for educational, administrative, communication, scheduling, payment, and service-related purposes.
Clients may request correction or removal of personal information where reasonably applicable and subject to legal or operational requirements.
18. GOVERNING LAW
18.1 These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of South Africa.
18.2 Any disputes arising from these Terms and Conditions shall fall under the jurisdiction of the South African courts.

- Tutor allocation and replacement
- Academic guidance regarding tertiary education and subject choices

- A functioning device
- Access to the required online platform
- A suitable learning environment
8.2 The Tutor Router is not responsible for disruptions caused by:
- Internet failures
- Load shedding
- Power outages
- Third-party platform issues
- Device malfunctions
8.3 Reasonable efforts will be made to reschedule lessons disrupted by severe technical difficulties.
9. CLIENT CONDUCT
9.1 Clients and Learners are expected to communicate respectfully with Tutors and staff members.
9.2 Abusive, discriminatory, threatening, inappropriate, or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.
9.3 The Tutor Router reserves the right to terminate services where inappropriate conduct occurs.
9.4 Clients may not directly recruit, privately contract, or solicit Tutors assigned through The Tutor Router during the active tutoring relationship.

13.1 All Educational Resources provided by The Tutor Router remain the intellectual property of The Tutor Router unless otherwise stated.
13.2 Educational Resources may not be:
- Reproduced
- Shared publicly
- Distributed
- Sold
- Uploaded online
- Forwarded commercially
without prior written consent from The Tutor Router.
13.3 Educational Resources are intended solely for the personal educational use of the registered Client or Learner.
14. WORKSHOPS, RECORDINGS, MEDIA, AND TESTIMONIALS
14.1 The Tutor Router may host online or in-person workshops, webinars, revision sessions, bootcamps, or educational events.
